In First World countries, we have infinite information at our fingertips and boundless opportunities. I encourage reading. I'm all for researching and educating ourselves. I'm a BIG believer in trying new things and stretching beyond our comfort zone. Change creates a tasty brew of inspiration. BUT, while you're doing stuff to grow... improve... develop... remember to check in on how you feel along the way. If FEAR is crippling you, but your tug is whispering "do it!"... then LISTEN! It's a good sign. Take that step. Anything done with enthusiastic energy has a way of propelling you forward in ways you can't intellectualize. It just feels good... and is right for you.
If the people around you are coaxing you, sweet-talking you, 'encouraging' you without your best interest at heart, then that icky feeling you have is YOUR TUG taking care of you. Just because everyone around you is drinking the Kool-Aid and trying to persuade you to jump on their (insert whatever service, product or belief) magic carpet ride, don't be sucked in. Think about it, if someone has to PERSUADE you (which is really the same as SELLING), and you're experiencing some form of resistance then maybe it's not for you. Maybe you don't need what they're selling. Maybe YOU actually know what's best for you. Fancy that. To believe in yourself is a sign of distinction. Great distinction.
I would love to hear your thoughts.
